We live in a world that’s shaky. Wars, crises, and questions without answers. Sometimes it’s tempting to think: forget it. Don’t vote, don’t hope, don’t believe things can get better. Because our leaders and peers let us down.
But who wins if we do nothing? And who loses? Injustice grows when we lean back. Injustice gets space when we look away.
Change rarely starts big. It often starts small. A first step. A small gesture that suddenly becomes a movement. A first spark that turns into unexpected fire. There is always something to fight for; something you can do.
Jerry Afriyie, guest of De Unie at ITGWO this year, co-founded Nederland Wordt Beter fifteen years ago, also present on the island this edition. The organization behind Kick Out Zwarte Piet and Day of Empathy set itself up in just 98 days. But: stopping is not giving up.
That’s why, on behalf of Jerry: Dear Netherlands, will you take over the fight? www.neemhetstokjeover.nl
Protect the successes. Continue the fight, in your way and on your ground. Until we can all live in dignity. Here, in our country, and beyond.
We're proud to have made the suits for De Uni at ITGWO. A Uniform for Resistance.
