We visited Folkert in one of his studios in Almere, where he showed us some of his past work and the things he is currently working on.
Folkert's work taps into the darker undercurrents of human history in a seemingly playful and colourful manner, making it easier for the public to digest. By confronting the public with the repulsive truth of human history, his work stimulates dialogue and reflection on the past.
Walking through the place, you see human-sized cocoons, historic masks, and Pompeii-esque still lives. Everywhere you look, you find something interesting. In the midst of his lively studio, he showed us some of the work he will add to the current evolving exhibition at Galerie de Schans, which is part of the new biennial art festival @warmoesbiennale.
