Truck art has been part of India’s visual identity and heritage for generations. Artists are commissioned by truck owners to capture a story, through vibrant paintings, kaleidoscopic symbols, ornamental designs or three-dimensional typography.

With truckers spending the majority of their lives on the road, their trucks reflect their culture and individual stories, becoming a canvas on which each trucker can express themselves, creating a collage of love and heartbreak, patriotism and religion, cultural heritage and home.

Farid Bawa, whose grandfather ran a transport business in India, realised that the art form was fading fast, the craft replaced by cheap radium DIY stickers and pre-painted trucks. The All India Permit online platform exists to document this art form and provide an educational space for visitors to understand and appreciate its cultural relevance.

Our new collaboration with All India Permit has turned our suits into a travelling canvas, a living exhibition that celebrates and preserves the heritage and craft of Indian truck art.

The limited edition run of 21 unique suits were flown out to India where four truck and sign artists - Chandu Sontake, Raj Dongre, Akhlaq Ahmad and Kafeel Ahmed Ansari - collaborated with Farid to create artworks on the jackets, infusing a classic Dutch design with rich Indian heritage.

This suit is handpainted and we recommend to be very cautious in the treatment of the suit. The suit can be dry cleaned, but only do so if necessary.
